Privacy Policy

1. Information we collect

• Account information: email address, display name, and password (or your Google/Apple account identifier if you sign in that way).
• Profile & identity information: profile photo, heritage/culture tags, and your identity-stage quiz responses — all of which you choose to provide.
• Content you create: journal entries (and their visibility setting), photos, voice notes, pod posts, and marketplace listings.
• Usage information: basic technical data like IP address and browser type, collected automatically to keep the service secure and working correctly.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to operate MXD: creating your account, showing your content to the right audience based on the visibility you choose, connecting you with pods and other members, and keeping the platform secure. We don't sell your personal information to third parties.

3. Who we share it with

We use third-party service providers to run MXD — currently Supabase (database, authentication, and file storage) and Vercel (hosting). These providers process data on our behalf and don't use it for their own purposes. If MXD introduces payment processing in the future, a payment processor would be added here before that feature launches.

4. Your journal entries stay as private as you choose

Every journal entry has a visibility setting you control: Private (only you), Pod (visible to people who share a pod with you), or Community (visible to everyone on MXD). We don't change or override this setting.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated content at any time from your Profile page, under "Danger zone." This is immediate and can't be undone.

6. Your rights

You can access and update most of your information directly in the app (Profile, journal entries, listings). You can request a copy of your data or ask us to correct or delete specific information by emailing us at the address below, in addition to the self-service deletion option above.

7. Children's privacy

MXD is intended for users 18 and older and is not directed at children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical measures — including access controls at the database level and encrypted connections — to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the updated version here with a new date.
